London-Born Digital Fine Artist Inspired by Surface and Light

I grew up in London, a city of shifting weathers, worn surfaces and quiet architectural rhythms. Its streets taught me to notice colour, texture and the subtle tensions held within a surface. That way of seeing still informs my work today, where digital tools combine with traditional fine art principles to create atmospheric abstract images rooted in observation, memory and place.

Foundations in Fine Art

My practice grows from decades of making, informed by my BA and MA in Fine Art from Bretton Hall College, University of Leeds. Years spent exploring aquatint etching, experimental mark making, sculptural forms and light-based works developed a sensitivity to surface, structure and atmosphere. I gather visual moments that catch my attention and allow them to evolve into layered digital artworks. By combining traditional fine art principles with contemporary digital methods, I create abstract works rooted in place, memory and observation.

The iPhone as Sketchbook

The iPhone functions as my sketchbook, a space where discovery begins. I use it to capture fleeting details of weather, movement and surface that might otherwise pass unnoticed. These observations become the starting point for digital compositions, evolving gradually into layered works shaped by experience and attentive looking. Each piece grows from these small encounters, developing into atmospheric abstractions that carry traces of memory, place and lived experience.
