If you add a work to your wishlist the information on it will be kept there for you until you decide to buy it. However, this does not stop another person buying it in the meantime, as each work is original, and apart from limited editions etc., once a piece is sold you may not buy it even if it was on your wishlist.

The price of delivery in the UK is normally indicated once you review your basket. Delivery outside the UK is by arrangement with the artist or maker.

Outside the UK will depend on the method of delivery and any customs issues.

We take payment via MasterCard or Visa credit or debit cards.

In addition, you may purchase some works via ‘Own Art’ – a loan scheme in which the artist is paid up front but you, the buyer, pay for the work over a 10 month period.

Artworks, when despatched by the artists, are sent by courier or by other registered method of delivery.

If the artwork has been damaged in transit when delivered to you:

  • Please tell us within 48 hours by contacting us at admin@ArtMakers.uk or by telephoning us at 01271 860996 so that we can record details of the problem and advise you further.
  • Please take photographs of any damage to both the artwork and its admin@ArtMakers.uk
  • We will then assess the damage and agree with you how to proceed.
  • PLEASE RETAIN BOTH ARTWORK AND PACKAGING IN THE CONDITION IN WHICH IT WAS RECEIVED, UNTIL OTHERWISE ADVISED BY ARTMAKERS OR THE ARTIST, AS IT MAY NEED TO BE INSPECTED BY THE COURIER COMPANY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DELIVERY. Failure to retain artwork and packaging may invalidate any refund claim.

  • The artist will advise you and ArtMakers within 48 hours of receipt
  • The artist will take photographs of any damage to both the artwork and its packaging and send to you and to ArtMakers
  • You may be asked to contact your courier to claim against their insurance
  • We will assess the circumstances and review refund entitlements

If an artwork does not arrive:

This has never happened so far and artworks usually arrive within 14 days of you making your order.

However in the unlikely event that it does happen: please contact us at admin@ArtMakers.uk so we can investigate and advise you further. We will keep in touch with you every step of the way.

How our system works (so you know what should happen):

As soon as an artwork has been purchased, ArtMakers informs the artist and they will then package the work and arrange for delivery.

Artists are required to send artworks by a recognised courier or other postal delivery service and provide tracking details.

When an artwork is on its way to you:

  • You will receive an email from us confirming that the artwork is in the process of delivery.
  • The artwork should then arrive within 3-5 days depending on the delivery service being used.
  • You may be asked to contact your courier to claim against their insurance
  • We will assess the circumstances and review refund entitlements

Some of Artmakers Information services are free to everyone, but if you register on the site i.e. become a member, you will have access to a range of support offers, and if you live or work in North Devon you will be able to sell your work through the site’s gallery.
Yes. Anyone can sign up to the newsletter and anyone can sign up for supportand information.

In order to keep costs to our members as low as possible, we have decided not to register for VAT until we reach a turnover close to the Government required limit. Therefore we will not charge VAT to artists on either membership fees or on Commission income. BUT if you are VAT registered yourself as a business, you must price your artwork on the site as VAT inclusive so that you have the resources to pay the required VAT to the Government.

Select ‘My Art’ in ‘My ArtMakers’ and select ‘Add Art’. You will be taken to a page where you will be able to upload your work. NOTE: Before you start: Decide the Title of your work and a Description of between 10 and 300 words (you can change the description at any time once you have uploaded your work) Descriptions are important particularly: a. to help potential buyers find your particular work through Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) and b. to tell the story of the work e.g. explain the details of its creation, the materials used, colours, is it part of a series?, why you have chosen its particular title. The importance of the work to you as an artist.
Each image needs to be no more than 1Mb in size with a maximum dimension of 3000 pixels on its longest side (the larger the image, the closer it enables a buyer to zoom in to see detail). To upload more than one image follow the instructions on the page We also have a detailed all you need to know about photographing your artwork in our Knowledge base - see Photographing your artwork

Yes. It is important to make sure that all work complies with the law and with the site’s Terms and Conditions of use. Your work will not be seen in the Gallery until it has been approved by ArtMakers. This will usually happen within 24 hours but may take a little longer at weekends.
ArtMakers has a small team, including the founders of ArtMakers, who review all works.
No. ArtMakers does not require exclusive rights to work exhibited in its Gallery. However if work is accepted for one of our Virtual Online Exhibitions then for the period of the Exhibition – usually about 6 weeks, we require that the work is not offered for sale elsewhere.
Think about what it has cost you to make the work:
  • Materials
  • Equipment and any Running costs
  • Your time (don’t devalue yourself – Artists Union England have a useful guide to hourly rates for artists)

Bear in mind that a series of prints can be valued on the basis of the number of editions available as opposed to a single unique work which will need to be priced to include all costs in the one item

Don’t forget that we charge commission on sales made through the site. ArtMakers Commission Rates vary depending on the level of your Sales membership
  • Basic – 40% Commission
  • Standard – 35% Commission
  • Standard Plus – 30% Commission
You are responsible for arranging packing and delivery to a buyer. Costs of sending your work within the UK must be added separately from the cost of the artwork.
Not while you have that work available for sale at a higher price on ArtMakers. Our Terms and Conditions require that the same artwork is not available for sale at a lower price anywhere else
No. Our Terms and Conditions require that the same artwork is not available for sale at a lower price anywhere else.
ArtMakers will send you an email with the details of the sale and you will be notified of new sales on your main 'My ArtMakers' Dashboard.
Artists and Makers package and send their works direct to Buyers. Following notification of a sale you will be asked to arrange packing and shipping.
Buyers are responsible for the payment for shipping. When you Upload a piece of work you are asked to add the costs of shipping within the UK. This way, costs of UK shipping are included in the price that a Buyer pays up front.

For Shipping outside the UK you will be asked to provide a quote for shipping to their country and they will pay you directly for these costs before you send the artwork.

Payments are authorised as soon as the Buyer contacts ArtMakers to confirm that the artwork has been received and that they are happy with the transaction. The purchase is then deemed to be complete and payment issued to the artist

Payments will usually be made at the end of each month for all transactions confirmed as complete during that month.

You will receive the cost of the artwork less the percentage commission rate relevant for your membership level.

You will receive the shipping payment in full.

Not at present

In order to keep costs to our members as low as possible, we have decided not to register for VAT until we reach a turnover close to the Government required limit. We therefore do not currently charge VAT to artists on either membership fees or on Commission income.

When it comes time for us to register for VAT – we will notify you and we will need to start charging VAT on commission from that time

No. ArtMakers currently meets the transaction fees charged by our payment processing platform – ‘Stripe’
