Jon Lucas - Digital Fine Art

ABOUT

Experience

Art shapes perception, thought, and creative expression. Early work in printmaking and sculpture established the groundwork for a shift in the late 1990s toward digital media, where colour, light, and fine detail now sit at the core of the practice. With both a BA (Hons) and MA in Fine Art from Bretton Hall College, University of Leeds, the artist draws on formal training as well as a lifetime of experience gathered far beyond the studio - each influence woven into the fabric of a distinctive creative approach.

Style

Blending traditional techniques with digital expertise, the work commands attention through the interplay of colour and light. Each piece seeks to evoke connection and emotion, offering visually striking compositions that leave a lasting impression.

Process

The creative process unfolds intuitively, beginning without a predetermined outcome and capturing spontaneous scenes on an iPhone - whether in natural landscapes or unexpected environments. Images are shaped immediately and preserved in the cloud for later refinement. The practice spans rapid thirty‑minute sketches to layered, time‑intensive compositions, each one reflecting an evolving dialogue between medium and muse. The iPhone serves as a sketchbook, a digital canvas responding directly to instinct and moment.
