Weekend Weaving Workshop

10 – 12 June 2022, £200 per person

Ethel Partridge was a highly skilled craftswoman who is credited with the resurgence of dying and hand-loom weaving in the UK. This three-day workshop for adults is led by renowned weavers Jenny Wilkinson and Angie Parker, natural dye practitioner Sarah Burns and Radhi Parekh of Artisans Mumbai. Attendees will draw inspiration from Ethel’s travels in India, learning hands-on processes and exploring international weaving techniques. The weekend will culminate in the attendees participating in a back strap weaving workshop to produce a personal piece to take home. Refreshments and lunch are provided.

Friday 10 June, 5.30 – 6.30pm: Meet and greet with the curator followed by a private view of the exhibition and a talk on Ethel’s work

Saturday 11 June, 10.00am – 4.00pm: Recipes from Ethel Mairet’s famous ‘Book on Vegetable Dyes’ – a hands-on workshop with Sarah Burns.

6.00 – 7.30pm evening talk by Radhi Parekh ‘Past Forward: A History of Craft in India’

Sunday 12 June, 10am-11am Weaver’s tour of the exhibition and demonstration of the sheep-to-loom process with Jenny Wilkinson

11.30am – 4.30pm: Backstrap loom weaving workshop with Angie Parker
