This workshop will be hosted by Dan and Hayley of Silk Crystal Studio in Ilfracombe and is open to anyone who is unemployed or otherwise economically inactive including carers and pensioners. Silk Crystal is an Independently ran creative hub, shop and cafe. Dan is a screenprinter with over ten years experience and Hayley is an illustrator together they not only run the shop but provide screen printing and branding services, for many independent creatives in North Devon such as illustrators, tattooist’s and clothing brands. Screen printing is the process of transferring a stencilled design onto a flat surface using a mesh screen, ink and a squeegee. Fabric and paper are the most commonly screen-printed surfaces, but with specialised inks it's also possible to print onto wood, metal, plastic, and even glass. During this short introductory course Dan and Hayley will guide you through the basics, teaching you how to set up your screen, selecting designs and choosing your inks. Participants will come away with a garment or accessory that they have printed. In this informal relaxed workshop. All equipment is included, please wear clothes you dont mind getting paint on.
