ABOUT

I am a local artist living in North devon. I studied Fine Art at North Devon College. My work is rooted in the beautiful landscape of this area. Whilst studying I looked at landscape in many differing ways and used many different materials. I created work that expressed the delicate transient nature of plants, work that looked at man’s historical and present effect on the landscape. I used landscape to express emotion and feeling, and to tell stories. I worked with plaster, paper, resin, textiles and paint.

Today my work is an expression of how I feel when walking through local landscape with my two dogs Maisie and Sky. The same place can feel very different under a stormy sky or a sunny summer day. Different seasons, time of day, light levels, and colour play a huge part in altering the mood and impact of a place even before I look at the view! My paintings may be of a specific place or be just the memory of how that place felt to me when I was there.

I enjoy working with different materials and use Oils, Acrylics, Watercolours, and Textiles in my work.

I also use plants to dye my textile pieces, plants I forage and some that I grow, some plants make beautiful prints onto silk or wool and I use this to create unique Eco Printed scarves, a process I really enjoy as each one is a surprise and a joy.
